The process of making lingerie at BonBon Lingerie is very special, as we follow ''lingerie for a lifetime'' standards. This means we strive for the highest possible quality in both our choice of materials and the production process, designing lingerie sets whose beauty and freshness are made to last. However, in order for the sparkle of our lovingly crafted handmade lingerie not to fade, it must be cared for gently and attentively. We have compiled a simple guide for washing and storing your lingerie below, which, if followed, will keep your BonBon gems looking flawlessly charming even years later.

1. Handmade lingerie needs hand washing

BonBon Lingerie recommends washing lingerie always by hand or on a delicate wash cycle in a machine. The steps of hand washing, none of which should be skipped, are soaking, washing, and rinsing. To soak the lingerie, place it in cold or room-temperature water with detergent and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Then, gently rub the soiled areas between your fingers or with a soft brush. If there are no soiled areas, lift the lingerie in and out of the water alternately for a few minutes. To rinse, place the washed items in clean water for five minutes. Do not use force or wring out your precious lingerie after rinsing; instead, gently squeeze out the excess water. If necessary, you can place the wet bra between dry towels and press gently to remove water. Avoid the spin cycle!

2. Use the delicate wash cycle only in exceptional cases

If you wash lingerie in a machine on the delicate cycle, use a special laundry bag, which is available for purchase at BonBon Lingerie representative stores. By using a laundry bag, you can avoid excessive stretching of the lingerie, allowing the materials to maintain their original elasticity when dry. Wash lingerie only with other delicate items, as heavy and sturdy clothes in the drum can damage delicate lace material. Avoid washing lingerie with fabrics that shed fibers, such as terry cloth or fleece.

3. Wash bras after every 2-4 wears

The recommendation is not to wash bras after every use, as this reduces the lifespan and elasticity of the elastics and materials.

4. Keep water temperature below 30 degrees

The recommended water temperature is based on the care instructions for the materials. In addition to precious lace, we also use many polyamide and elastane blends in production. High temperatures can break the threads of these materials and cause excessive stretching.

5. Choose the right detergent

Delicate lingerie needs delicate treatment, so choose a detergent created for delicate laundry when washing underwear. The wrong detergent can make the fabric rough and ruin its appearance. When dosing, do not overdo it, but follow the amounts on the packaging. As a result of overdosing the cleaning agent, some of the detergent may remain unrinsed and, in the worst case, cause allergic skin reactions.

6. Do not use fabric softener or rinsing agent

Residues of rinsing agent remain inside the fabric containing elastane and Lycra, dulling the colors and attracting bacteria that cause unpleasant odors.

7. Do not use a tumble dryer

Always air-dry lingerie, as the heat of a dryer ruins the elasticity of the lingerie. Be especially careful with underwired bras and push-up bras, as they may lose their shape if incorrect care methods are used. Shape the bras into their proper form and place them on a flat surface to dry.

8. Do not iron lingerie

Excessive heat can melt the fibers of the fabrics.

9. Protect lingerie from excessive heat and light

When storing, ensure that the lingerie is not in an environment that is too hot or too bright, as fabrics containing elastane or Lycra blends may lose their vibrant colors as a result.

10. Store bras in their natural shape

When storing a bra, do not turn the cups inside each other; instead, place the cups on top of each other. To protect the lingerie from dust and for convenient travel, we recommend purchasing our small BonBon Lingerie travel bag.
